- If one light bulb on a Christmas light strand burns out the rest of the lights will remain on. To lengthen the life of your light sets replace all the burned out lights promptly. If you do not replace the burned out bulbs they will put stress on the remaining bulbs.
To spot a bulb that is about to burn out look for the dimming of the light and they will also become a little yellow in color. If the entire light strand goes out there is a break in the circuit. First check to make sure that all the light plugs are plugged in tightly. Next check the light strand fuses. If a fuse is blown out add another household extension cord to reduce the flow of electricity. If there is still an outage check each unlit bulb to make sure they are plugged into the socket correctly. If the light strand is still not lighting discard it and replace it with a new set. It is a good idea to save a few of the good light bulbs to use as replacement bulbs for future use.
