- Starting Step # 1.
Small trees need shaping to look natural and in good health. Start at the bottom row of branches. Pick one of the bottom branches and find the short attached branches closest to the tree trunk. Refer to the picture to the left, pull out the short branches angling them towards you.
- Step # 2.
How bend these small branches with a gentle curve in them. Refer to the picture shown to the left. Make sure you make a gentle curve, not a square bend.
- Step # 3.
Now move your two gently curved branches in an outward and upward direction. Refer to the picture to the left.
- Step # 4.
- Locate the next set of branches and repeat step # 1.
Now move these two curved branches in an outwards and downwards direction. Refer to the photo to the left.
Repeat steps # 1 through # 4 working your way out to the end of the tree branch using the outward and upward shaping used in steps # 3. Then use the outward and downward shaping used in step # 4.
- Locate the next set of branches and repeat step # 1.
- Step # 5.
- At the top of the tree you will start finding single branches extending from the tree trunk. Shape these branches with a gentle curve as shown in step #2. Take these branches and bend them downward in a low deep dip. Repeat this step until you have reached the top row of tree.
- Step # 6.
At the very top of the tree you will find a single tree branch. It is usually a much longer branch. This single branch will be bent straight up pointing to the sky. See the picture to the left.
- Step # 7.
- For the final shaping touches you will hold the top long straight branch with one hand. With your other hand you will start pulling the top row of branches upwards gently by their tip, until the branch tips are about two to three inches away from the top long branch. Make sure you do not alter the gentle bend in these branches. Work your way around the tree trunk spacing each branch apart equally.
Then start pulling the second row of branches upwards gently by their tips and placing these branches in-between the top row of branches. Continue pulling the branch tips downward tell you are finished with the single branches. Make sure the tree top of your tree looks full without any holes or gaps.
