The Millennial Christmas Tree

Millennials are stepping out of the box for their Christmas trees. These new
stick looking trees are fun and defiantly a conversation subject for those
holiday parties and for friend who are visiting. These trees are becoming a
popular choice for the younger generation.

The Millinial Christmas Tree

The bed rock pine tree that my
daughter has is just quite as can be. There are just a few branches on the
tree so the trunk is visible. It has long skinny branches that flair out at
the end of the branch. Since her adorable cat named Cuddles wants to
investigate and climb on everything in the apartment the heavy metal square
stand is a must. She names everything so it was no surprise that she named
this tree Charley for the cartoon character and the stick tree that way
illustrated in it. The tree was set in front of her living room window. The
tall bed rock tree was decorated with those yellow one eyed and two eyed
Minion ornaments that hung on the branches. The branches were spread out and
there was a lot of room for the ornaments to dangle freely. She also looped
popcorn garland around the branches, and that was the extent of tree décor.
All I could do was shake my head and think how sweet of an idea her tree
was.
I must say that the first time I saw her Christmas tree it put a smile on my
face. Since I love Christmas so much and grew up with traditional trees with
tons of Christmas ornaments. There was garland draped all over the living
room and entry hallway. Nutcrackers were set on the fireplace mantle and
Santa figurines of every shape and size were everywhere you looked. This new
style of decorating for the holidays is defiantly out of my Christmas box.
No pun intended.
Of course dad insisted on a tour of the rest of her new apartment. I was
surprised to see another smaller stick tree on her bed stand. The only
decoration on the tree was a strand of multi colored lights that were woven
into the branches. It just said Marry Christmas in a very settle way. A very
special night light I suppose. She has defiantly picked up my creative side.
Not traditionally but in her own special way. Her comment to me was “Oh dad!
Most of my friends have these trees now”. I think I am getting old!
