Beyond indoor displays, outdoor Christmas decorations are on the top of many homeowner’s lists. And they are only growing in size and popularity as the years go on.
There are TV shows dedicated to homeowners that put thousands of lights and larger-than-life displays up each holiday season, and this trend doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Particularly as LED technology continues to make light usage more efficient and economical; homeowners are no longer wincing at the utility bills and are instead adding more lighting to their displays. Technology has also added music, coordinating it with the lighting for an added effect. Now instead of just a strand of icicle lights adorning the home’s eave, or the traditional colored lights, it can literally look like a winter wonderland.
One such effect to making a winter wonderland is a light flurries snowflake projector. Placing the projector in the front yard or in front of an office building, it will project falling snowflakes onto the exterior of the building. Another item is snowmen. In all shapes and sizes, snowmen are great outdoor Christmas decorations. Laying white, weather proof batting beneath them with the snowflake projector will aid in the realistic portrayal of a wintery scene.
Another item among popular outdoor Christmas decorations is the nativity scene. A basic set will provide Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus in a manger. Some sets are pre-lit with mini-lights. The materials that are used run the gamut but are commonly made out of wood or plastic. In addition to the basic set, there are the Three Wise Men, livestock, shepherds, a stable, and the Star of Bethlehem to expand the set further. Many times people will use the pieces in various ways. Maybe they have the stable with Mary, Joseph, and Jesus front and center, and then surround them with the livestock, with a shepherd off to the side. The Three Wise Men are set off to the other side of the yard with their camels. This can help make the story of Christmas come alive as parents retell the story of the Nativity.
Giant candles, ornaments, and lighted stars are nice compliments to a homeowners existing outdoor Christmas decorations. The bright stars will shine vividly from the trees in the yard and also draw attention upward to any displays that may be on the roof. The illuminated candles can add an intimate feeling of warmth to the display, whether they are set among carolers or flanking the entryway. The lighted, hanging finials are perfect for those barren trees. Ornaments placed among the branches help add depth and interest to any display.
In addition to these outdoor Christmas decorations are, of course, the actual strands of lights. They are available in strands of 25 bulbs on up to over one hundred. They come in a variety of colors, and some strands come in a single color. There are also a number of styles to choose from.
With the multitude of options available, a homeowner is sure to find just the right addition to their outdoor holiday display.
